The D40K is a track mounted drill designed for drilling water wells or exploration holes with either rotary or down hole hammer methods.

This model can be equipped to carry 300 feet of 25' drill pipe in the standard 281 stroke mast. The entire drill is assembled on a rigid frame

Subframe Construction: Heavy-duty, channel construction, cross-braced and re-inforced at high stress areas. ASTM A 36 steel (Integral components of frame.

Mast Construction: Rectangular tubing, welded / stress relieved. Steel grade, main members ASTM A500, grade B 5" x 3" (127mm x 76mm).

Drill Power: Caterpillar Model 3408DITA 505hp (377kW).

Rated speed 100rpm. Fuel Capacity 220 gallons (834 litres).

Compressor: Two stage oil flooded screw type 740cfm / 300psi

Mud-Pump: Gardner Denver 5" x 6"

Hydraulic System: Rotary circuit - Hydrostatic, axial piston pump. Feed circuit - Axial piston, variable displacement. Accessory circuit - Pin vane type, fixed displacement. Fan circuit pump - Pin vane type, fixed displacement. Oil reservoir - 135 gallons (512 litres). Oil Cooler - Integral with engine cooler with nominal ambient rating of 130º F. Filtration - 3 micron on hydrostatics, 10 micron return.

Feed System: Type - Hydraulic, cylinders and chains. Stroke - 28' (8.54m). Rated pulldown pressure - 33,000lbs (14,982kg). Rated pullback - 60,000lbs (27,240kg). Feed rate - 0-60fpm (18.3m/min). Retract rate - 0-84fpm (25.6m/min)

Rotary Head: Type - Top Drive. Power - Hydraulic Motor. Gearing - Spur planetary and final drive. Lubrication - Oil Cooled.
